Day 19
Well after last nights ordeal we were both not feeling too alert thanks to the lack of sleep but after breakfast which I skipped we got into the car and headed for Maligne Lake which was about 40km from Jasper, the route to the lake was apparently a great place for wildlife, it was not long before we came across a dear by the side of the road and it didn’t seem to mind us being right next to it, so a few photo’s later we continued to the lake, the weather by now had started to cloud over but the smoke had gone thanks to a nights rain.
We arrived at the lake and walked down to the boat house where we contemplated hiring a couple of canoes but the weather looked like it might start raining so we thought we would wait until the weather improved maybe lake Louise.
After a brief stop off at the cafeteria for coffee and some donuts we drove back to the base of the Canyon where we went yesterday because the weather was slightly better and we wanted to go for a walk down by the river and see the bridges we missed yesterday.
We had a few good photo opportunities and took full advantage of them just before it started to rain again, fed up with the rain and cold 8DegC we drove back to town for a drink and snack.
I had forgot to mention that we had moved rooms to next door to Ken & Sandy with no other neighbours to try and secure a good nights sleep but the heating was not working this morning and we asked that it was fixed whilst we were out, well you guessed it it was freezing in the room when we got back and this just about tipped lorna over the edge, it only took a few tears and I was off down to reception to cause a riot if necessary. A few choice words later I had a blower heater in my hands and headed back to the room, where Lorna was on the bed upset and still in her coat with the hood up, quite funny really, so with the heater on full blast we finally got some heat into the room.
Tonight we are eating again in the hotels restaurant/bar so a early night will hopefully recharge our batteries.
Tomorrow we have a nice hotel for 3 days booked in Banff which is part of the Acclaim group which was the great hotel we had in Calgary so we should be good for a nice stay, we have a 2 bed suite with full kitchen so we might stop in a cook to save on the very high costs of eating here.
